A young family of four has been displaced by a fire that damaged one unit in a four-apartment townhouse in O'Leary Tuesday night.

The fire on Stewart Lane was reported Jan. 12 at 10 p.m.

On Wednesday, Canadian Red Cross volunteers helped a woman and her three children all under age five with emergency lodging and food.

They were able to retrieve clothing and other basics from the home.

The Canadian Red Cross is currently looking for more volunteers throughout P.E.I. to help people impacted by events like residential fires or larger-scale disasters and emergencies. More information is online at redcross.ca/volunteer.
