BRAE, P.E.I. — Justin and Laura Rogers will have lots to talk about next month when they attend Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers national event in Fredericton.
The Rogers, recipients of Atlantic Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers Award, will join six other regional winners from across Canada in presenting highlights of their operations during the Dec. 5-8 conference at the Delta Hotel in Fredericton.
The couple is in the process of converting their beef operation to a dairy operation. They hope to be in dairy production by the spring of 2020. The farm was last in dairy production in the 1970s. In recent years the Rogers carved a niche as seed grain growers.
The Atlantic committee has the unique opportunity of hosting every seven years and choosing one of four provinces.
This year, Fredericton was selected to host the 39th national event.
This year’s theme, "A Time to Celebrate", showcases the many crops and products produced on Canadian farms.
Canada’s Outstanding Younger Farmers program is sponsored nationally by CIBC, John Deere, Bayer, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and Sollio Agriculture, and is supported nationally by BDO and Farm Management Canada.
