BORDEN-CARLETON, P.E.I. — A trail system proposed in Borden-Carleton’s master plan is closer to getting underway.

Borden-Carleton chief administrative officer Wendy McIsaac has talked with the province which is supportive of leasing land to the town for the trails, as long as the required permits are obtained.

Council was in favour of proceeding with the project.

“Trails are important for any community,” said Coun. Barb Wood.

The path will connect Noonan’s Shore down back to Noonan’s Marsh and Rollie’s Marsh with the Confederation Trail.

McIsaac identified a provincial grant and said the project seems like a good fit, especially since the trails were already part of the town’s long-term vision.

“We’ve gotten a ton of community engagement on this component of the plan and it was very well supported,” said Coun. Laurel Palmer-Thompson.
