CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Friday's storm left the province with around 11.8 cm of snowfall, according to Environment Canada statistics.
On Saturday, the weather service stated it recorded 11.8 cm of snowfall at the Charlottetown Airport during Friday's blast of wintery weather.
Snowfall numbers for other areas of the province were unavailable. The peak wind was recorded at 78 km/h in North Cape.
By Saturday, skies had cleared and Maritime Electric had restored power to almost all of its customers.
Earlier on Friday, Maritime Electric was reporting a power outage affecting almost 6,000 customers in North Bedeque, Albany, Kinkora, Borden-Carleton, Hampton and the surrounding areas as winter weather worsened.
The utility said crews were also investigating an outage in Kensington and the surrounding area.
Snow started falling over the Island around noon continued throughout the evening.
Schools across the Island closed three hours early in anticipation of messy weather and the City of Charlottetown closed its offices at 3 p.m.
Holland College and UPEI also closed early.
Health P.E.I. announced the cancellation of some services and several flights at the Charlottetown Airport were either cancelled or delayed.

Blowing snow will be mixed with ice pellets late this afternoon and into the evening, and winds gusts are expected to reach 80 km/h along parts of the coast.
Drivers are advised to be extra cautious on the roads and to adjust their driving as road conditions change. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

ADVISORY: Due to weather, Northumberland Ferries Ltd. will be leaving Caribou, N.S. at 9:30 a.m. then cancelling all remaining crossings for today.
