A P.E.I. motorist was, once again, in clear violation of driving with improper glazing on his windows.

James O’Connor was found guilty of the offence following a short trial Monday in provincial court.

Representing himself, O’Connor took the stand. He recounted driving along the Charlottetown bypass on a warm, sunny day with his windows down.

He was pulled over and charged with operating a vehicle with improper glazing on the windows.

Chief provincial court judge Nancy Orr noted whether the windows were up or down is irrelevant to the charge.

Section 138 of the Highway Traffic Act states that “no person shall place or install any material on or in place of any window glazing that, by reason of sunlight or the headlights of other vehicles, casts a glare at other vehicles on the highway.’’

Orr fined O’Connor $600 and imposed a $75 victims of crime surcharge.

O’Connor had four prior convictions for the same offence.
