Loblaw Companies Limited is recalling certain No Name brand frozen chicken burgers following a Canada Food Inspection Agency investigation into a salmonella outbreak.
The recall includes the No Name chicken burgers sold in 1 kg packages with a best before date of Feb. 6, 2019. The recalled products also have an inner package code reading 0378M.
The CFIA said recalled product should be thrown out or returned to the store it was purchased from.
The product was distributed to Loblaw locations nationally. Currently there has been 59 cases of salmonella illness in eight provinces between March and May 2018, although none of those cases have been in P.E.I.
Ten of those cases have seen individuals hospitalized.
The CFIA said it is working with the industry to ensure the product is removed from the retail market. The agency also said its investigation is ongoing and if more products are linked to the outbreak they will be identified.
