Man runs from P.E.I. police after allegedly pulling knife on woman

Summerside Police Services arrested a man Friday night after a woman ran into a Granville Street business, saying that her ex-boyfriend had just pulled a knife on her.

Police were called at about 7:30 p.m.

The suspect, a 21-year-old Summerside man, ran away before police arrived, but he was found a short time later, hiding behind a nearby business.

A knife was recovered near where he was hiding.

Police already had an outstanding warrant for the man’s arrest.

He was remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later date.

He is facing weapons and assault-related charges.

The victim did not sustain any serious injuries as a result of the incident.
