Following an arrest on Canada-wide warrants, Calgary police have charged a man in relation to the homicide of Jeremy Boisseau.
Barry Roach, 48, has been charged with indignity to a body after being arrested Wednesday at his home in Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia.
“This has been a long-standing investigation and we have consulted with the Crown Prosecutors office,” said Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm with the Calgary police homicide unit. “We don’t really know what the specific relationship was (between Roach and Boisseau but) it’s our belief they were together at the time of the homicide.”
When asked if Roach had any part in moving Boisseau’s body after he was killed, Chisholm said “that is part of the investigation and that’s part of what makes up the charge.”
Police believe the homicide occurred in an apartment in the 600 block of 1 Ave. N.E. in Bridgeland and then Boisseau’s body was transported to the Waiparous area.
The investigation, which is ongoing, began after the remains of Jeremy Boisseau were found in a wooded area north of Waiparous, Alta.
Another recent search of the Waiparous area, Chisholm said, led them evidence that helped lay the charge against Roach.
“We’ve relied on the media and the public to assist us with the investigation and they have provided information that has helped us get to this point,” said Chisholm. “(Laying a murder charge) is always going to be our goal. Hopefully, at some point, we will get to that.”
The Calgary Police have worked with Halifax Regional Police, RCMP K Division in Alberta and RCMP H Division in Nova Scotia throughout the investigation.
“Anybody that has any information in respect to the whereabouts of Mr. Boisseau between December 26, 2016 and December 27…. or information that can link him to other individuals or Mr. Roach — we’re looking for that information,” said Chisholm.
