Zac Murphy, a financial adviser with Younker and Kelly, has been officially declared the Liberal candidate for the upcoming byelection in District 10 Charlottetown-Winsloe.
Raised in Winsloe, Murphy, who is 29, attended West Royalty Elementary School, delivered papers in his surrounding neighbourhood, worked as a gas attendant at the local Winsloe Petro Canada and played youth sports in the area.
The P.E.I. Liberals announced Murphy’s acclamation Oct. 2 on Facebook, where Murphy gave a virtual address accepting the nomination and outlined what he believes will be important issues for the district moving forward.
“Access to affordable housing, building better schools, increasing aid for mental health and addictions, fighting climate change, supporting small businesses and making life more affordable: these are issues that matter to the residents of District 10," Murphy said.
"I promise not to shy away from the big issues, and I will do everything in my power to work with our communities to build a sustainable future for everyone."
