WOODSTOCK — A 24-year-old West Prince man has died following a single-vehicle accident in the community of Woodstock early Saturday morning.
On July 20, at 5:30 a.m., Prince District RCMP, O'Leary Fire Department, and Island EMS responded to the collision off Route 2, also known as the Western Road. The lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway between the Duvar and Howland roads was closed for several hours while emergency personnel and investigators were on scene.
Jason Greenan, the deputy fire chief of the O’Leary Volunteer Fire Department, said they received the call early Saturday morning.
“Three fire trucks with 19 firefighters were dispatched after the call came in at 5:32 a.m. The car was submerged in the water, with its wheels down,” said Greenan.
Greenan said a debriefing was held at the fire hall after attending the serious call.
An RCMP collision analyst, as well as an RCMP drone, were deployed to aid in the collision investigation. The investigation into this collision is ongoing and RCMP are not releasing more details at this time.
