A 47-year-old man from St. Edward is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving at a speed of 174 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on Route 152.

The man was arrested and transported to the West Prince RCMP Office in Rosebank. He was charged with dangerous driving, driving while prohibited and driving without insurance.

The arrest comes after RCMP officers spent March 20 in West Prince conducting traffic enforcement. Nine drivers were ticketed for speeding.

The RCMP is reminding drivers that posted speed limits are there for a reason and that excessive speed is often a contributing factor in serious car crashes.
