CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — About 100 people took part in the Charlottetown Walk in Silence for Family Violence Prevention Week Thursday.

After a minute of silence, observed in remembrance of victims of violence and their families, participants entered Charlottetown City Hall to hear speeches and take part in a reception.

Due to the inclement weather on Wednesday, the Charlottetown Walk in Silence reception was moved to Thursday and the walk portion did not take place as previously scheduled.

The bell tower of City Hall will be lit purple for the week in honour of Family Violence Prevention Week.
