CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown police arrested a 49-year-old man and are looking for two other suspects after three people allegedly stole jeans and sunglasses from Island Active Wear.

The police reported that on Sept. 7 at 3:12 a.m. three suspects broke into the business where they stole Oakley sunglasses and a “significant quantity” of brand-name jeans.

Surveillance video of the incident shows a vehicle driving up to the store where two people with their faces covered get out.

One of the suspects can be seen smashing a window with an axe, hitting it repeatedly until they are able to enter the store.

When the suspects leave the store, they are seen carrying armloads of jeans and drop several pairs as they run to the waiting vehicle.

Before they leave, one of the suspects is seen running back into the store and re-emerging with another armload of stolen goods.

A different surveillance camera shows one of the suspects slipping and falling on their way out through the broken glass on the store’s door.

Charlottetown police said a 49-year-old man was arrested soon after the incident and was charged with break and enter and breaching his probation.

He was remanded into custody and will appear in provincial court on Sept. 19.

The police are looking for the public’s help to identify the other two suspects and anyone with information about the incident can contact Charlottetown police at 902-629-4172 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
