CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The mother of a 14-year-old girl who was struck by a skid steer will in a crosswalk in Charlottetown Thursday says the driver stopped and seemed to acknowledge the girl's presence before driving into her.
The girl was standing at the corner of Maple Avenue and Oak Drive Thursday afternoon, holding her bicycle to her side and waiting until it was safe to cross the intersection. The driver of the skid steer stopped and seemed to nod at her. As she stepped onto the street, she was struck.
The driver did stop and checked on the girl but left the scene without providing any contact information. The mother says the vehicle was a Kubota with a bucket attachment.
Charlottetown police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 902-629-4172 or P.E.I. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
