SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 41-year-old Charlottetown man and a 32-year-old woman are facing charges after a recent break-in to a storage trailer at a Granville Street business in Summerside.
On Nov. 7 at about 4:30 a.m., Summerside police received a call reporting a suspicious person in an apartment building parking lot on Roy Boates Avenue.
The caller reported the suspect parking a vehicle in the lot and then attempting to access other vehicles.
Police attended and located a suspect nearby who as Shawn Decourcey. Police also located the vehicle involved in the complaint and Crystal McTague inside.
The vehicle was seized by police as it could not be determined whether the pair were in lawful possession of the vehicle and the pair were released. There was also property in the vehicle that police believed was stolen.
Then at about 8:30 a.m., staff from a Granville Street business, near where Decourcey and McTague were found by police, reported a break-in to a storage trailer where some property was stolen.
Police were able to confirm the property stolen from the business was the same property located in the seized vehicle. There were also break-in instruments located in the vehicle.
Both Decourcey and McTague have been charged with break and enter and theft, along with possession of break-in tools.
Decourcey has been remanded into custody and McTague was released but will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.
