SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Charlottetown woman appeared in Summerside provincial court recently to answer to charges of theft.

Laura Kimberly Beaton, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of stealing merchandise from Big Dog Convenience valued at less than $5,000 and one count of failing to attend court as required by a judge.

The charges are from May 14 in Kinkora and July 18 in Summerside.

Beaton received a suspended sentence and six months of probation in relation to the theft charge and two days in jail for the failure to appear charge.
