Queens District RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident on Route 13 near New Glasgow around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The driver, a North Rustico man, drove his Chevrolet Silverado into a light pole, knocking out the power in the surrounding area.

Cpl. Scott Gosse said "overtiredness" was the reason for the crash.

There were no injuries, but 1,925 customers were left without power in New Glasgow, Cymbria, Cavendish and surrounding areas.

Three Maritime Electric crews are currently at work hope to have the power restored by 10 a.m.
