CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Island Backhoe Services Inc. has won the contract for the Andrews Pond trail construction.

The bid came in at $51,333. The proposed trail development will be taking place on new parkland the city obtained as part of the MacKay subdivision.

Coun. Julia McCabe expressed concern about the amount of silt run-off going into the pond from neighbouring building sites. It was agreed by the parks and recreation committee the city needs to have tougher bylaws with regards to run-off.

The chief administrative officer is going to inquire with the planning department and request they work closely with the provincial Department of Communities, Lands and Environment.

Coun. Terry Bernard and McCabe recommended the resolution be accepted and forwarded to city council for consideration.
