CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - A tourism group in eastern P.E.I. is getting a financial boost through $38,000 in funding from the federal government.

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) recently announced the non-repayable funding for Island East Tourism Group Inc. to support the next phase of its tourism strategy.

Island East Tourism Group is one of six regional tourism associations and has more than 130 members throughout eastern P.E.I. with a focus on promoting the Points East Coastal Drive.

The project will help tourism businesses enhance and create new visitor experiences, build and promote cultural events, and strengthen the regional tourism brand.
