THREE RIVERS, P.E.I. - Three Rivers council has agreed to support the Montague Minor Hockey Association’s 2018 Norsemen Tournament.
Council voted unanimously during the Dec. 10 meeting to provide the association’s request of $450 in funding for the tournament.
The tournament, now in its 29th year, presents a bursary each year to Montague Regional High School. The rest of the proceeds go towards player development.
The tournament, which includes 60 teams, has games in Montague, Georgetown, Murray River and Belfast over one weekend.
Coun. Gerard Holland said providing $450 for the tournament was “peanuts” when compared to the economic spin-off it generates for the area.
