THREE RIVERS, P.E.I. — The Three Rivers municipality has approved its general budget, effective until March 2021.
During the March council meeting, CAO Jill Walsh said since this was the municipality's first full year of operation following amalgamation, it was exciting to start focusing on Three Rivers rather than the individual communities within it.
"This year we had a chance to step back," she said.
"So, even though the numbers haven't really changed a whole lot, I think you're going to see some direction taken."
Residential property taxes will remain the same. There will be an increase in commercial taxes, but this was outlined in the amalgamation agreement.
"So we felt like we did pretty well."
There is an operating surplus of about $910,000, which is comprised mostly of grants for specific programming, thus it can't be considered municipality revenue.
