G&G Amusement wants to hold a three-day carnival on the green space in front of Founders’ Hall.

Skot Gallant with the amusement company asked permission to hold it on the city-owned land from July 20-22 to help raise funds for his daughter, Samantha Gallant.

The money would be used to send Samantha to an international pageant in Paris, France, in November.

In his letter to the city, Skot says his daughter currently holds the pageant title in P.E.I., Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and has another 11 titles.

In the end, however, the parks and recreation department felt the land in front of Founders’ Hall was not a suitable location for the carnival and denied the request.
