GEORGETOWN, P.E.I. - A Souris man will spend 115 days in jail after choosing to drive impaired while also being prohibited from driving due to a prior impaired driving conviction.
Jeffrey Joseph Cluney, 31, was sentenced to 85 days in jail for failing a breath test on Oct. 11 in the St. Peters area. He was also sentenced to 30 days for driving while prohibited.
The sentences will be served consecutively.
Cluney will be on probation for 18 months following his release from prison and has been ordered to perform 100 hours of community service work.
Police tracked down Cluney after receiving numerous calls of a person driving erratically.
Cluney first gave police his brother’s name rather than his own. He admitted to drinking eight or nine beer that night.
Cluney has two prior impaired driving related convictions.
