SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — There are a number of streets in Summerside still barricaded following Saturday's hurricane Dorian event.
Clean-up efforts are remain ongoing around the city and crews continue to work at restoring power to a number of areas still in the dark.
Streets still barricaded include: Poplar Avenue, Beaver Street and Hanover Street.
Meanwhile areas without power include Beaver Street, Court Street, part of Sunshine Trailer Park, Mill Crescent, Poplar Avenue and Oak Street.
According to an update provided by the city of Summerside on Wednesday, the priority was to get the streets powered up with the help of crew members from Saint John Energy who arrived from New Brunswick Wednesday afternoon. It was estimated that 175 people were without power.
There is no estimated time for repairs on primary or secondary services and streets.
To aid in the process, Summerside Electric customers without power are asked to inspect the mast on their homes. This mast is the pole on a house which the power line from the street connects.
If the mast is damaged, customers are asked to contact a private electrical contractor to make the repairs. The city utility crews cannot reconnect services to a damaged mast.
Once the mast has been repaired, or if it is not damaged, contact Summerside Electric at 902-432-1268 to be put on the list of those with an intact mast still without power.
