SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Dwayne Maurice Butler, 39, of Summerside pleaded guilty to a number of gun and drug-related criminal charges.
The charges include: one count of possession of a firearm while prohibited, one count of possession of a prohibited firearm, one count of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a stolen ammunition belt, six counts of being at large before his term of imprisonment was complete, one count of failing to attend court, one count of breaching a probation order, four counts of possession of Schedule 1 controlled substances (buprenorphine, methamphetamine and hydromorphone).
The charges are dated from between November 2018 and February 2019 in Summerside and St. Raphael.
Butler was sentenced to a year in jail but received credit for the equivalent of 145 days he’s spent in custody since his arrest. He must also forfeit the firearms that were seized and he’s prohibited from owning any weapons for life.
