Summerside man found guilty on multiple charges

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Dwayne Maurice Butler, 39, of Summerside has been found guilty of multiple charges and pleaded guilty to others.

He was found guilty of one count of possession of a weapon, a knife, for a purpose dangerous to the public, and one count of carrying a concealed weapon, a knife.

Those charges are from July 20, in Summerside.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count each of hydromorphone and methamphetamine. Those charges are from May 5 in Summerside.

Butler was sentenced to serve 60 days in jail, which he received permission to do intermittently, must serve 12 months of probation and must pay a $700 victim surcharge and a $405 in victim surcharges. He is also prohibited from owning weapons for at least 10 years.
