SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Maurice ‘Moe’ Hashie and Jason Dodd will be presenting a multi-part seminar ‘Resolve to Evolve P.E.I.’, beginning on Oct. 26.

The seminars will consist of how to deal with your past and moving forward, personal wellness, and assertive training, said Hashie.

“These seminars are to help people look at their obstacles and what will help them deal with those obstacles. A big part of it is their grief of any kind and whatever their situation is, and finding ways to move forward.”

Hashie is an instructor at the College de I’lle and has been a life coach for more than 20 years. He and Dodd met through their local church, as Dodd had been a pastor for 20 years before becoming a life coach.

“My background is people,” said Dodd. “I like making a difference in people’s lives. When I found life coaching, it felt like finding a missing piece of me. I found my spot.”

Dodd and Hashie had both lost their fathers around the same time after meeting, and helped each other in their grief, said Dodd.

“We understood each other’s backgrounds, and we supported each other. When one of us was down, the other helped lift them back up. And we learn from each other, it’s like we’re each other’s life coaches.”

The seminars will help people focus on their future life script, said Dodd.

“We look at life patterns, past ways of thinking and what’s stopping you from living your life. We look at your skills and talents and we’re going to focus on what you want your future to be, giving hope and something to look forward to.”

A life script is re-inventing the way you look at yourself, said Dodd.

“It’s getting into a new pattern of how you think about yourself. It’s the first thing you think of the morning and the last thing at night. Positive reinforcement about how you view the parts of yourself.”

Another component of the seminars is how to be more compassionate in everyday life, said Hashie.

"In one seminar, we focus on being able to apply compassion to all aspects of life, evolving and make peace with the past. Becoming more empathic and learning through other people, that it’s not me, it’s we.”

Both Hashie and Dodd offer one-on-one sessions, and always make sure the client is where they need to be when looking for support, said Dodd

“There are some people who you can help and some people you can’t. It’s finding the right professional, and we always refer them to a therapist or someone who can help them.”

The seminars will be held at Centre 150 in Summerside, beginning at 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
