SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The City of Summerside has formally agreed to join six other Atlantic municipalities in an effort to secure green infrastructure dollars from the federal government.
The municipalities are applying for funding from the Natural Resource Canada Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure program to construct 25 new Phase 2 electric vehicle charging stations in the city.
If the funding is approved, the federal government and the cities would split the cost of the new chargers. The city would also have to hold another vote to determine whether it wants to proceed with funding its share of the program, which is $117,500.
