CORNWALL, P.E.I. — The portion of the Trans-Canada Highway that currently runs through Cornwall is about to get a new name.
Residents can vote until noon Wednesday on whether they want to be travelling along Main Street or Unity Street – the two options pared down by council.
Voting can be done on the town’s website at Cornwallpe.ca.
The stretch of road will run from the Cornwall roundabout to the Terry Fox Complex.
The bypass project will move the Trans-Canada Highway west of Charlottetown around the town.
Deputy Mayor Cory Stevenson is hopeful the new name will be announced later Wednesday once the votes have been tallied.
Council will make the final choice, but Stevenson notes the community’s input will weigh heavily on the decision.
