STRATFORD, P.E.I. — Construction of the Town of Stratford's wastewater collection system is about a month behind schedule.
Jeremy Crosby, Stratford's infrastructure director, said the new system, which will connect to Charlottetown's pollution control plant via the Hillsborough Bridge, was intended to be done this month.
Reasons for the delay include workers from New Brunswick and necessary materials not being able to arrive in Stratford as expected, as well as general delays caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19 strain) pandemic.
"We're hopeful that by late October we'll be able to turn the pumps on," Crosby said during council's monthly meeting at Stratford Town Centre on Sept. 9.
However, the project hasn't gone over budget, he said. "We're in good shape."
