Some Island veterans will be getting special valentines this year thanks to students at Stratford Elementary School.

On Jan. 29, students in 10 classes at the school made valentines specifically for veterans as part of the Valentines for Vets program.

Sailors from HMCS Queen Charlotte will hand deliver the valentines to veterans living in care facilities around P.E.I.

Valentines for Vets started in 1989 when columnist Ann Landers encouraged readers to create special valentines for veterans in care facilities around Canada and the U.S.
