Gail MacDonald is running in the upcoming November Stratford election seeking her current seat of Ward 1 once again.
MacDonald and her husband have been residents of Stratford since 1979 raising their four children there.
“Stratford is a wonderful community to raise a family and I look forward on working to ensure it continues to be a safe and sustainable town.”
MacDonald would like to continue on for another term to work on a number of new and on-going projects. She is currently chairwoman of numerous committees as well as the co-chairwoman of Planning, Safety Services and Development and Heritage and a member of the Human Resources Committee.
MacDonald’s Recreation, Culture and Events Committee and staff have been working on is the Stratford Splashpad, she said.
MacDonald, the only female member of council since Diane Griffin was called up to the Senate in 2016, encouraged other women to put their name forward for the upcoming four-year term.
She also wants the opportunity to help with pressing issues like affordable housing, safe streets and education.
“I am fortunate to be retired from a long-term career with the Charlottetown Police Services and our children are grown, so I have the time to commit to the committee meetings, public meetings and events as a councillor.”
