A man was taken to hospital after a standoff in Miscouche last week.
Just before 4 a.m. on Nov. 20, RCMP received a 911 complaint of man having a mental health crisis. He had a firearm and was inside a residence outside Miscouche.
Officers from Prince District RCMP, Queens District RCMP and Summerside Police Services arrived on the scene, contained the area and requested any nearby neighbours to shelter in place.
There was no imminent danger to the public as the incident remained contained within the residence.
Trained police negotiators from Prince District RCMP and Summerside Police Services were able to communicate with the man.
Following a brief standoff, police were able to negotiate his safe surrender to police at 5:50 a.m.
The man was taken to Prince County Hospital for further medical support and treatment. The firearms were seized pending investigation.
