Event to address local issues within a global framework
The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) and UPEI is hosting a special day of events to mark International Development Week 2019.
Called Together Towards Equality, ACIC is celebrating achievements of Canadians in furthering the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, both within Canada and across the world.
The event, taking place Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 285N of the Atlantic Veterinary College, will have presenters discussing complex issues that require holistic approaches informed by diverse voices working together across sectors, disciplines, and borders.
The goal is to explore, in the face of social and political divisiveness, how to overcome barriers to create more sustainable and resilient societies. The event will also encourage participants to work within their own communities to address local issues within a global framework.
Speakers include; Jennifer Taylor, Ali Ahmadi, Josh MacFadyen, Ted Grant, Jane Ledwell, Jillian Kilfoil, Ouma Cuniah, Erin Mahar, Olive Bryanton and Cassidy McKellop.
All are welcome to attend this free event, but registration is encouraged.
