Hundreds gathered for a Night of Celebration in support of Nigel Armstrong at Murphy’s Community Centre Friday.
The evening was a chance for Armstrong’s many friends and family members to come together to celebrate his life and the tenacious spirit he has shown during his more than 10-year battle with cancer.
Armstrong, a life-long Charlottetown resident, has been a journalist at The Guardian for decades and was a familiar sight at countless news events throughout his career.
He was led into Friday’s event by bagpipes and was able to share memories with those at the event.
The night, which featured live entertainment, was to raise money to support Armstrong’s family in dealing with the financial hardship that has accompanied his battle with cancer.
Those who wish to donate to the Armstrong family can still do so through the GoFundMe campaign “Fundraiser for Sarah Armstrong by Jim Day: Nigel’s Journey”.
