CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A former Rotary Club of Stratford member must wait a couple more weeks to learn his sentence for stealing close to $18,000 from the organization.

Sentencing for James Joseph Pineau, 48, was adjourned on Wednesday until May 8.

He pleaded guilty last month to theft over $5,000.

The court heard in March that the RCMP received a complaint on Nov. 28, 2018 from the Rotary Club of Stratford that it was missing money from a two-year period.

Crown attorney Morgan Watts told the court Pineau forged a signature on the cheques he made out to himself. Pineau wrote 57 cheques to himself for a total of $17,727.28.
