'Screencutter' sentenced to nine years in prison

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The man P.E.I. police called the “screencutter” was sentenced today to nine years in prison.

Richard Joseph Arsenault appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown after previously pleading guilty to four break and enters, possession of stolen property and wearing a mask while committing an offence.

In sentencing Arsenault to nine years in prison, Orr followed a joint recommendation from the Crown and defence.

She gave Arsenault credit of six months for time spent in custody since his arrest in August.

Orr ordered more than $45,000 the police seized from Arsenault’s home forfeited.

Of that amount, more than $4,150 will go to the victims.
