Kool Breeze Farms is hosting the annual Scarecrow Festival and Open Farm Day Sept. 15 from 1 – 4 p.m.

The farm field is full of straw creations — a train, a tractor, spiders, animals and other characters are ready to entertain.

Kids are invited to dress up and enter the scarecrow contest for a chance to win prizes.

All visitors are invited on a wagon ride to learn about the farm.

Other activities include potato sack and three-legged races, pumpkin carving and live music. Hockey players from the Summerside Western Capitals will be attending too.

“This is our gift to the community to thank them for their support throughout the year,” said Ian Simmons of Kool Breeze Farms.

The Simmons family has been hosting this community event at the farm since 2007.

Kool Breeze Farms is a family owned and operated garden centre open year round in Summerside. In the summer they offer a seasonal dairy bar, the Ice Cream Barn and a food truck, Da Mama’s Kitchen.

Simmons said the Scarecrow Festival would not be possible without with the help of partners Summerside Lions Club, Green Diamond Equipment, Salty Dog Creative, Island Petroleum, Journal Pioneer/Saltwire Network and Generation XX.
