A competitor from the Emmy-winning TV show “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is coming to Charlottetown.
Ginger Minj will be a headlining performer as part of the 24th annual Charlottetown Pride Festival.
Minj will headline the show, Club Couture Edition En Blanc, being held at the Delta Prince Edward from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on July 28.
The show will feature a number of drag queens from Atlantic Canada alongside Minj, as well as two local performers Demona DeVille (Josh Borges) and Whatshername (Nicholas Whalen).
Minj placed in the top three of season seven of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” before returning for “All-Stars Season 2.”
Minj has several pageant titles, including “Miss Gay United States 2013” and “Miss National Comedy Queen 2012.”
DeVille is described by Pride P.E.I. as a “fun-loving chameleon” who considers drag as a way to “start difficult conversation about injustice, human rights, politics and bring some much-needed fantasy and a sense of family to an often hostile and oppressive world.”
Whatshername is described as an “emerging art queen” who uses self-made costumes and provocatively curated performances to “take drag out of its traditional context and into the art world.”
