TYNE VALLEY, P.E.I. - Organizers of the fifth annual Rock the Boat MusicFest are putting the finishing touches on their largest concert.

This year’s edition, which will feature Juno Award-winning Canadian rockers The Glorious Sons and rock legend Kim Mitchell, is being held at Green Park 4, on Saturday, Aug. 4 beginning at 2 p.m.

“We are expecting our largest crowd ever,” said Jeff Noye, event chairman. “Based on advance ticket sales and our normal event date sales, we are expecting a sell-out.”

He said The Glorious Sons winning the Juno for rock album of the year for its recent release, “Young Beauties and Fools”, has created a ton of buzz around the event. The group recently returned from Europe where it opened for the Rolling Stones in Marseille.

Mitchell, author of countless hits through the 1980s and ’90s, is drawing an audience both young and old.

Held annually during the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival at Green Park, the slate for Rock the Boat also includes Brad Milligan at 2 p.m., Danny Drouin at 2:45 p.m., Andrew Waite and the Firm at 3:30 p.m., The Ellis Family Band at 4:30 p.m. and The Royal North at 5:45 p.m.

Tickets and a small number of campsites remain available and can be reserved at tvoysterfest.ca. There is ample parking onsite at Green Park.

Rock the Boat MusicFest is a non-profit organization. All proceeds support local causes, in particular Community Sports Centre in Tyne Valley. Using the proceeds of the 2017 event, the mortgage balance for the Sports Centre was paid in full. Many local organizations, community groups and businesses benefit from the event by acting as vendors and/or playing supporting roles.
