CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Premier Dennis King said the government will make the necessary investments to help the province’s primary sectors weather the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the economy.
King spoke during the government’s daily news conference on measures taken to deal with the coronavirus and steps taken to help stop its spread.
Education Minister Brad Trivers also spoke and said more than 200 packages of school supplies are being prepared for students who need them.
Almost 3,000 meals will be prepared this week and delivered to students, Trivers said, adding that program provides for one meal and some snacks each day per student.
Chief public health officer Dr. Heather Morrison did not hold her usual 1:30 p.m. briefing on the coronavirus.
During the government’s briefing, King said Morrison was not providing an update today because she was waiting for lab test results and had yet to receive them.
