Souris RCMP is asking for public assistance after it responded Monday to a report of lobster gear being cut.

Investigation of the incident, which took place at the North Lake Harbour Fishing Grounds, revealed more than an estimated 240 lobster traps were lost and that it was an intention criminal act.

RCMP say the incident occurred between noon on Saturday, May 12, and the early hours of Monday, May 14. The Kings District RCMP are investigating the incident and working with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the North Lake Fisherman’s Association.
