CENTRAL BEDEQUE, P.E.I. — RCMP and Island EMS responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Route 1A in Central Bedeque yesterday evening.

Traffic was stopped in both directions. Route 1A in Central Bedeque from the Hogg Road to Route 171 was closed and Route 10 is was not accessible from Route 1A. 

Two ambulances were at the scene as well as firefighters and RCMP. One person was taken to hospital.

Four vehicles were seen to be damaged. One vehicle has left the scene. Three remained. 

Firefighter Michael Lawless of the Kinkora Fire Department was the first on scene and was able to extract a person out of one of the vehicles involved. 

One vehicle was in the ditch, two were on the roadway. 

RCMP was also at the scene of a collision at the roundabout in Traveller's Rest. No injuries were sustained in that incident. 

Const. Steve Monkley is urging Islanders to adjust speeds to the weather conditions as roads continue to become icy as the temperatures drop.
