NAUFRAGE, P.E.I. — The search continues for Jordan Hicken, the missing fisherman from Lower Montague who fell off a fishing boat May 21.

The 22-year-old was fishing with his father when he ended up in the frigid water near Naufrage before 5:30 a.m.

A major search Tuesday, co-ordinated by the Halifax Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre (JRCC) by air and on the water, was unable to locate Hicken.

The JRCC handed the matter over to the P.E.I. RCMP as a missing person case.

Sgt. Chris Gunn said the RCMP continues to apply resources, including drones and a dive team, to the area.

There are many people continuing to search for Hicken on Thursday.

P.E.I. Ground Search and Rescue (P.E.I. GSAR) is on site with about 40 personnel; P.E.I. Fish and Wildlife is out on ATVs assisting with beach patrols; St. Peters fire department has deployed about a half-dozen personnel to the area; and there are also a number of community volunteers assisting in the search.

Gunn said they will re-evaluate the search after each day in consultation with P.E.I. GSAR, the family and others participating in the search.

Right now, P.E.I. GSAR is focusing on the area from Naufrage Harbour to Greenwich, and with the ATVs and the drones, the search extends as far as Savage Harbour.

The family continues to be provided with updates.

More to come.
