A 32-year-old Murray Harbour man who appears to have taken on more than he could handle came away from a violent incident banged up and facing several criminal charges for his efforts.

RCMP Sgt. Chris Gunn says police were dispatched to a 911 call at 5 a.m. Thursday to a Murray Harbour residence.

Gunn says one man sustained significant facial injuries from three people trying to defend themselves. None of the three people – two males and a female – were injured.

The injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. As a result of the investigation, he was determined to have been the aggressor and was charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats to a person.

Gunn would not reveal what weapon was used in the alleged assault or what may have triggered the incident.

The accused was released by a Justice of the Peace. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 29.

Gunn says five people were present during the incident. The four people directly involved in the altercation were known to each other.

The investigation is ongoing.
