It’s being called the We Are Rural Strong Rally walk.
People are asked to meet at Peakes Quay for the walk which begins at 1:30 p.m.
“Get off your seat and on your feet. It’s time to make our voices heard,’’ said Mallory Peters, president of the Georgetown Home and School Assocation. “Bring your boats, farm equipment, vintage cars, bicycles or just walk with us.’’
A number of issues important to rural P.E.I. were identified in the press release for the event – tired of paying more taxes for less services, feeling like government has been cutting services and infrastructure in rural communities, possible school closures, health care, hospitals and more.
The walk will begin at Peakes Quay and runs along Water Street, proceeds up Queen Street, turns onto Victoria Row and ends at the Coles Building.
A number of organizations have been invited to take part.
