CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The list of Music P.E.I. Awards nominees is out and Rachel Beck leads the way with eight nominations.
There were twice as many submissions this year and there will be 31 awards handed out during Credit Union Music P.E.I. week in January.
Last year, Music P.E.I. gave out 23 awards.
Beck’s nominations include album of the year, entertainer of the year, new artist of the year, and songwriter of the year.
Meaghan Blanchard, Vishtèn, and Jenni & The hummingbird all received six nominations.
Music P.E.I. members can vote for album, country, loud/rock, pop, roots contemporary, roots traditional and entertainer of the year awards starting Nov. 20.
Juries of industry professionals decide all the other award winners.
Music P.E.I. Week starts Jan. 23 and ends Jan. 27 with the awards party and closing concert.
