CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation's annual Yuletide Gala Auction raised a record-breaking $277,576 to fund the purchase of priority medical equipment for the QEH.

Over 275 guests attended the recent event that has been in existence for over 25 years.

Ed Lawlor, QEH Foundation chairman, said it is the priority equipment purchased from the gala that impacts guests the most.

“With the funds this evening, the emergency department will get a new video laryngoscope that will provide faster and less traumatic intubation for patients,” says Lawlor.

“Also, dialysis will receive two new hemodialysis machines, providing life-sustaining therapy to patients with end-stage kidney disease. Remaining funds will go to the new CT simulator for radiation treatment planning for the P.E.I Cancer Treatment Centre.”

A highlight of the evening was a $9,700 winning bid for equipment to aid privacy for chemotherapy patients receiving treatment at the P.E.I. Cancer Treatment Centre at the QEH.
