CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who was caught prowling at night after a dispatcher saw him on a street next to the police station was sentenced recently to 75 days in jail on several charges.

Lloyd Thomas MacDonald, 47, appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to prowling at night and two counts of theft.

The court heard that on Dec. 18, a dispatch worker at the Charlottetown police station saw MacDonald going around cars on neighbouring Willow Street.

MacDonald was charged with prowling at night.

Earlier that day, MacDonald stole four boxes of Turtles chocolates from a Sobeys store in Charlottetown.

The chocolates were valued at a total of $55.96 and weren’t recovered.

MacDonald also stole from a Shoppers Drug Mart in Charlottetown on July 30 when he took four bottles of cologne worth a total of $324.20.

Those items also weren’t recovered.

Douglas gave MacDonald credit of 20 days for time served while he was in custody after his arrest.

MacDonald will be on probation for 15 months after his release and must pay a total of $380.16 in restitution.
