CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The province is working on a new COVID-19 rapid testing site in Charlottetown but isn’t ready to announce where just yet.

At a recent coronavirus media briefing, Marion Dowling, the province’s chief nurse, said work is ongoing to get the new site up and running.

Currently, the chief public health office is using the Eastlink Centre, and the adjacent parking lot, for a rapid testing site and a cough and fever clinic. Those will close on Sept. 30 and move to another location in the city.

Dowling isn’t saying where yet.

“We haven’t confirmed or publicly announced the location yet because there still are a number of site preparations to be done at that location before we open it up but it will be within Charlottetown city limits," Dowling said.

Sources tell The Guardian the new location is the former government garage at the corner of Park Street and Riverside Drive.
